THE AIMS OF CASH:

  • To  provide  professional  support  for  Headteachers  and  School  Leaders  with  the  aim  of  improving outcomes  for  young  people  in  Cornwall.
  • To  form  a  cohesive  professional  learning  community  based  on  trust

CASH is not an organisation that is expected to directly represent its membership on individual salary negotiations, conditions of service and other issues that are the responsibility of the national professional associations and unions, including NAHT and ASCL. Indeed the membership of CASH includes secondary Headteachers who are members of both these organisations and, no doubt, other similar bodies.

The principle behind the organisation of CASH is that, by working together collaboratively, we can further the interests of education in all maintained secondary schools in Cornwall and to provide for the support and professional development of its members. In this way we can offer much more to all the youngsters in our care than we can if we expend all our energy on continually competing. We must also accept, however, that as individual Headteachers, our main responsibility is to work for the good of the pupils within our own school.

Over the past 4 decades, since the inception of CASH, members have agreed a constitution and a series of protocols and guidelines to help to ensure collaborative and agreed practices between individual schools. These are shown on the website and colleague Headteachers, especially those new to the county, are asked to familiarise themselves with and ensure that they follow the principles identified in the Constitution which follows. If there is any perceived conflict, contact with one or other of the current officers will ensure that the matter can be aired and clarified, or an amendment to published guidelines can be considered.
